23 February 2017 – Appraisal by Tim Nash

A lovely evening with Tim Nash and a good turn-out of members in spite of ‘Doris’ blowing a hoolie!

We had over 20 works of art brought in by members for Tim to appraise and as usual they were all of a very good standard with some very innovative pieces. Members really got into the spirit of experimenting with mixed media and collage.

2 Feb 2017 – Demo by Tim Nash

What a great night with Tim Nash at Kidderminster Art Society demonstration. He took us through numerous ways of working with mixed media, using ink, acrylic, tissue, collage, even egg shells . So very interesting. Shelly

Thursday, 2nd February 2017, Kidderminster Art Society is delighted to host a demonstration by the well-known artist Tim Nash. Tim is from Stourbridge and has spent many years teaching art in the Midlands and demonstrates around the UK.

Nash is particularly known for his mixed media works including collage, using all kinds of materials including old pictures, wallpaper, foil, tissue, magazines and newspaper. He pastes newsprint onto his work upside down because if the text the right way up, it tends to grab the attention and viewers read the text rather than look at the painting as a whole. He uses a palette knife to apply paint and acrylic inks to create an interesting and varied texture to his work.

The demonstration commences at 7.15pm and will be held at Trimpley Village Hall, near Bewdley, DY12 1NZ. Non-members are welcome. Pay £5 on the door. Refreshments will be available 50p.

October Annual Exhibition and celebrity Demo 2106

Kidderminster Art Society held its annual art exhibition at Kidderminster Library throughout October. A number of paintings were sold during the month, with a last minute sale to a staff member who said, I’ve been looking at that painting all month and the minute it came down I knew I had to have it!”.

During the month we also welcomed Angela Gaughan who delivered a celebrity demonstation at the library featuring her fantastic wildlife paintings.  Well done to everyone involved in setting up the exhibition and to all those who exhibited their fantastic paintings and models!
