2024 New Beginnings

Welcome to 2024! Apologies for not posting recently, due to personal events. The Autumn Newsletter was emailed out to members did not get updated here until now. Find it under the Newsletter section on the right menu.

Our first meeting of the year was held at Trimpley Village Hall on Thursday 11th January 2024 and was well attended. Many of our members took up the challenge of doing a sketch per day throughout the coming year. A very tall order, but many have decided to have a go and a plethora of wonderful sketches, drawings and paintings is already emerging. The prompt list will be posted on our web site, FB page and on WhatsApp at the beginning of each month so lookout for that if you wish to have a go!

Our next meeting is on Thursday 25th 2024 and commences at 7.15pm at our usual venue at Trimpley Village Hall. Hope to see you there!

St Georges Hall Exhibition 2023

Our exhibition at St Georges Hall is approaching fast. Members will be taking their paintings to the Hall on Monday 3rd July to be put up. They will remain on display until 7th August. Forms and information have been sent to all members. So get painting!

11th May – Ink and Wash Demo

On Thursday we were treated to an ink and wash demonstration by Clive. Using a non-permanent fine fibre tip pen and a water-brush Clive showed us how to create quick and dynamic sketches. We all had a go and really enjoyed the outcome. It is an excellent way to capture an image especially if you you are out and about and want to do something really quick. Many thanks Clive for an excellent evening.

Spring Trophy 2023

This year’s Spring Trophy was held at Trimpley Village Hall on 27th April. As usual there was an interesting and eclectic mix of styles and media. Much to his delight Clive Betts won the competition with his seascape. Worthy runners-up were Lesley with her puffins and Dawn’s abstract landscape in joint second place. Well done all! Thanks go to Jennie for organising some light refreshments and to everyone who helped set-up the room and tidy away afterwards.

9 and 23 March 2023 – Meetings

Next meeting at Trimpley Village Hall is on 9th March 2023. The theme for the month is ‘Look Up’. Members are invited to bring along their paints, paper scraps etc for a collage session. MEETING CANCELLED due to adverse weather.

As the meeting on 9th march was cancelled, we will pick up where we left off with our collage session on 23rd March. Usual time 7.15pm at Trimpley Village Hall.

23 February 2023 – AGM

Kidderminster Art Society AGM was held at Trimpley Village Hall on 23rd February 2023 at Trimpley Village Hall. Minutes of the last AGM were approved. The Chair gave a round-up of activities during the last year and proposed a new programme for the coming months. Members also put forward their suggestions and a new programme will be drawn up in due course. The Treasurer gave their report and although the Society’s funds had decreased it is still in the black.
