KAS enjoyed a wonderful evening with guest artist Rob Leckey. He 
showed us how he created his paintings, the techniques he employs and the various mediums he uses, and not a brush in sight! Rob uses a variety of tools to apply paint, ink and oil pastels to his paintings using pieces of stick, credit cards, cardboard and anything else he can make a mark with. The painting literally evolved before our eyes.

This Thursday 3rd March 2016, Kidderminster Art Society are looking forward to welcoming Rob Leckey ARBSA.
Rob works with acrylic paint and ink, collage and mixed media. The acrylics are applied with rollers, pieces of shaped wood, card and any found materials. Collage materials comprise of torn or shaped tissue paper, newsprint, and magazine illustrations. Details are also added with oil and chalk pastels, pen and ink.
Rob says “By the very nature of how I apply the collage, paint and inks I can never fully predict the outcome. Along the way many accidents happen, interesting colours and unique shapes emerge”. Boats and harbours, landscape, town and cityscapes all provided inspiration for Rob’s impressionist style.
Come along to Trimpley Village Hall and enjoy a fascinating insight to Rob’s techniques. Start time 7.15 pm. Guests welcome for the usual entrance fee of £5 on the door.

Thank you to everyone who came and supported Kidderminster Art Society’s AGM on Thursday. I am sure you will agree that we have a great club with lots of varied activities with an active committee who dedicate a good deal of time and energy to ensure that we have an interesting , sometimes challenging, events programme and that everything runs smoothly.
This year we welcomed some new committee members who replaced others who, having served for some time, decided it was time to stand down. A full list of the committee membes will be posted here soon.

Tonight’s meeting is the Kidderminster Art Society’s AGM. This is an opportunity for members to nominate and vote for members to sit on the committee.
Attendees will also have the chance to find out what events have been planned for the coming year. It’s going to be good!
So come along and support your society.
On Thursday 14th Jan members enjoyed a good evening trying their hands at printing with David Spurrier. A variety of inks and papers were made available along with various supports including Lino and one member brought a woodcut she had been working on. There will be another chance this coming Thursday 21st to have a go, so come along and try it out.
If you get the chance, make sure you don’t miss the KAS Annual exhibition at Kidderminster Library.
The exhibition was opened by the Mayor. She was very impressed with the standard of work on display.
KAS have been working all year trying different media and have held a number of workshops encouraging members to ‘have a go’ at something different to their usual style and medium. I think this idea has really got everyone thinking and helped expand on members’ skills and approach to mark-making. I thing that the variety of media on show at the exhibition bears testimony to this.

Kidderminster Art Society’s annual exhibition opened today at the Library. There is some fantastic work and lots of variety. Well worth a visit! The exhibition is on until the end of November so make sure you don’t miss it!
All visitors to the library will be able to vote for their favourite painting and a trophy will be presented to the most popular work.
